Do I have to bring my child to speak to police

Michael DeRiso Answers Your Questions

Do I have to bring my son or daughter to speak to police

No. Just because they are under the age of 18, that does not mean that they do not have rights. Typically, law enforcement will use the parents to coerce the minor child into giving an incriminating statement. You should ask for a lawyer. Unless it is a very serious crime, the minor child will almost always be released into the parents’ custody regardless of whether a statement was given or not.
